Founded in 2007 by a group of pirate enthusiasts and seasoned festival producers, The Northern California Pirate Festival opened its doors for the first time to 31,000 individual festival-goers over a two day period. This number blew the projected 5,000 pirate lovers expected to attend during the Father’s Day Weekend out of Vallejo’s pirate-infested waters. Despite a challenged economy and an overall drop in festival attendance across the industry, 2008 brought 30,000 people from all over the Bay area and out of state. The Northern California Pirate Festival is unique in that it is the first festival of its kind to be run solely by a team of professional, yet volunteer festival producers and pirate enthusiasts. The festival is held in Vallejo, California, with easy access from San Francisco by ferry and two major travel routes that connect the North and the East Bay to the area.
Vallejo, California is the gateway to the heart of wine country. The area beyond is one of the most affluent and culturally rich areas in the country renowned for its trend setting LOHAS demographic (Lifestyle of Health & Sustainability). We are less than one hour from the Greater San Francisco Bay Area, with easy access for over seven million people and a wide variety of business and media outlets.
